Wildlife enthusiasts around India and the world woke up this morning to news that Col John Wakefield a.k.a Papa John, passed away at his home in Karapur yesterday morning. He was 95. He was one of the pioneers in bringing eco wildlife tourism to India with the establishment of the Jungle Lodges Resorts. He will be sorely missed by every wildlife and animal lover and especially by those who visited the Kabini River Lodge.
India is in desperate need of men like Papa John, Billy Arjan Singh, Valmik Thapar and Ullas Karan and one by one as the legends pass away the baton needs to be passed to the younger generation so that the dreams of people like Papa John to see the Tiger regain its glory days do not remain just that..dreams.
Rest in Peace Papa John.
